About Us

Welcome to Royston,

Our school’s office opens on Monday, August 31st.  You are welcome to call for an appointment should you need to meet with someone.  You are also welcome to email me should you need to set up a meeting, Christine.vanderree@sd71.bc.ca .  Unfortunately, the school remains closed to non-staff members at this time, unless an appointment has been pre-arranged.

If you are new to the area and still need to register your child, please do so on line through the school district website (www.sd71.bc.ca).

A message to our Royston families:

We hope you enjoyed a safe and fun-filled summer holiday.  Thank you to those of you who have already reached out by email or said hello in the neighbourhood as I have been settling into this wonderful school.

Our re-entry plan for school start up and details regarding Royston specifically can be found here.

DPAC hosted a very informative session with our Regional Health Officer Dr. Charmaine Enns which asked and answered a lot of the common safety questions many citizens have – please reference the DPAC video which we will link below as soon as it is available.  If you would like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Some of you have indicated that you are enrolling your child in distance learning options.  If you are considering this and haven’t already done so, please let me know so we can discuss and I can note it on our class lists.

The first few days:

The first week of school will be a gradual start for all students in the province. This is to make sure all staff and students are prepared to follow the new safety protocols.

- Tuesday September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 – all staff on site preparing classrooms and being trained on safety protocols.  No school for students!

- KINDERGARTEN students have an extended gradual entry. We will email parents with their schedules.

- Grade 1-7 students – meeting each morning in their designated class line ups, near their entry doors.  We will email parents which teacher and line up area each child has in the week of September 1.

-  Thursday, September 10 – ONLY Students with LEGAL last names beginning with A-K come to school for the morning. (8:25 to 11:30)

- Friday, September 11 – ONLY Students with LEGAL last names beginning with L-Z come to school for the morning. (8:25 to 11:30)

- Monday, September 14 – full time school for all Grade 1-7 students.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the requirements of this changing landscape.

I look forward to meeting the students and embarking on a great year at Royston.

Mrs. Christine VanderRee, Principal, Royston Elementary
